The smart salesman and family man Chris Gardner invests the family savings in a device known as a "Bone Density scanner", an apparatus twice as expensive as the common x-ray machine but with a slightly clearer image. As he tries to sell these devices, his wife leaves him and he loses his house and money.
Forced to live in a bathroom at a train station with his 6 year old son, Chris decides to do a six-month unpaid training to start a more promising career as a stockbroker.
But there are nineteen other candidates for the same job.
One day, the head of the firm calls him to the office and asks him to wear a shirt the next day, because it will be his first day as a broker.
So Chris wins the fight against poverty and builds up his new life.
I like this film for many reasons. For example the actors,Will Smith and his son, play their roles very well and naturally.
The atmosphere is very impressive and reflects the life in the 80's in a authentic way.
I really like the track "Feeling alright" in the soundtrack by Joe Cocker.
I would recommend this film to every person, because it shows the situation of suddenly being at the end of existence in a very dramatic way. We also watched this film in class a few years ago, and I seem to remember that it caused an animated discussion between me and my friends about poverty.
